The very first step you have to do is to set up the march; a hero, number of troops, and formation. On the main screen, on the top-right side, just below the event icon, tap the hero icon. This will take you to the Hero March screen where you can change hero, reduce or increase the number of troops, and change the formation. On that screen, on the right side, under the Idle Army section, you will see the number of troop units you have. To take them into the battle, drag(hold on a troop icon) to the formation; frontline or back line. Or tap the quick formation button to choose automatically.
